It was made in 1909 by Carlos María Herrera (Uruguay) and Pio Collivadino (Argentina). It's made of several parts of cloth nailed to a wooden structure that hangs from the metallic structure over the auditorium. It has a classic style with typical ornamental decorations in those years and a 240-m2 surface. The method used is tempering in the central sector and oil painting over the proscenium. In the first one there are mythological characters and the names of eleven outstanding musicians and writers like Verdi, Mozart, Wagner, Lope de Vega, Moliere and Shakespeare.
It was in very poor conditions with its surface darkened by dust and humidity. The restoration was made by an Uruguayan restorers team leaded by Ruben Barra, Claudia Barra and Metchild Endhardt and the cooperation of an advanced students group from the National School of Arts. Their work took four months.
